Kate Middleton prepares for humble monarchy.

Kate Middleton, who is going to marry Prince William this April, goes out  for bargain clothes at John Lewis.

The Queen, who is known for her parsimony, is to gain a granddaughter-in-law close to her heart. Kate Middleton has been dotted scouring the sales racks at Peter Jones, the Chelsea branch of John Lewis.

"Kate's been a PJ customer for years and she's told that she will continue to come here when she's married to William," gushes one of the saleswomen in the second-floor fashion department.

During three visits, Prince William's fiancée took gain of the sales to buy from such brands as Paul Costelloe, Whistles and Fenn Wright Mason. On one trip, she brought her mother, Carole, who made purchases in the Jaeger section.
